Why do we exist?
We have spoken to organizations all over the globe about their information security programs. After hearing from executives, IT managers, and service providers; after reviewing numerous policies, practices, and technologies; we discovered a common theme. Not only did most of these organizations have inadequate security measures to protect their assets, but there were simple, inexpensive things they could do to improve their overall security posture. Many having security technology at their disposal, but they were lacking the skills and knowledge to implement it effectively.
This is where we saw we could make a difference. We can help organizations improve their security posture by first: maximizing the core defenses they already have; and second: implementing additional, cost effective solutions that are appropriate for the organization’s security risk. We do this by taking the time to understand what is important to the organization, understand the threats to their business, and understand the technology that they use. We combine this understanding with deep technical knowledge, a focus on fundamentals, and a commitment to excellence to deliver world class security consulting services, that result in practical solutions that are easily deployed and reliable.

The business operates on a flexible schedule with most consulting services being delivered during normal business hours of 9:00 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. EST, Monday through Friday.

The business is headquartered in Central Florida and is perfectly positioned to serve Florida businesses. But, we are able to deliver remote services to any business in the United States also.

How long have you been working in this field?
We bring nearly 20 years of experience in the Information Technology field from various disciplines and industries. We have experience working with private companies, publicly traded companies, higher education, non-profit organizations, and defense contractors.

Christopher Hickernell is the founder and owner of Core Defenses LLC, a Florida corporation.
